So I’ve built several practice models and have been so concentrated that I completely forgot to take photos.
And my acrylic for the pic chart has come through as well!
A great explanation of Utopia, its etymology, economics and politics. There is a certain trend to the ‘ideal world’ including how the governments work and how the people should behave, it’s a very controlled world.
I’m still aiming to build a physical representative of some of the data I’ve collected, but it’s looking more like it’s going to be a literal 3D chart of some sort.
I’m currently looking into Utopian themes in general, and a common one that pops up (especially in films and games) has been HUDs (Heads Up Display) and GUIs (Graphical User Interface).

Deus Ex Human Revolution - Art director Eric Bellefeuille shows the conclusion of work from the game UI in Deus Ex.
Enders Game - Jayse Hansen shows some of his work from the film Enders Game which depended on the visuals of the UI systems.
I’m researching the common trends of Utopian themes in fictions such as books, films and games.
I’m going to end up with a lot of information so the best way of displaying this would be through info graphics, luckily I’ve found several Pinterest sites with such examples:

Based on the Utopia TV series this is a quiz inquiring about how the world could survive if you had to choose the big decisions such as how many children should be allowed per family, what we should do if there is a water shortage and how we should decide on what should happen if the obesity crisis becomes out of control.

Final Major Project is a-go!
So we’ve been given a blank brief, we have to fill it out with our own project ideas.
This is much harder than I anticipated, though luckily people in my class have helped with ideas so I may actually get somewhere today.
So far the favourite is:
Create and make a post apocalypse world and characters that sit within this world. Use your own style for this and enjoy a use of multimedia!
It’ll be developed much more later on, but so far so good.
